About White Hall Historic State House

The home was built in the late 1700’s, with a major addition constructed in the 1860’s. The historic White Hall mansion, designed in Georgian and Italianate styles, boasts nearly 10,000 square feet with modern innovations of the time such as central heating and indoor plumbing.

Dating back to 1798, this site was the historic home to Cassius Marcellus Clay. His father built the home and it is believed to be haunted by Clay himself, his wife and son. Witnesses have claimed to see moving candle lights, hear footsteps, and other mysterious noises, and even smells throughout the home. Piano and violin music has also been heard, and three ghostly apparitions have been spotted.
